Home has always been important to me and because of that my style has always been one of comfort which is what I am going to use throughout the house. I want to be able to relax no matter what room I am in. Because lets face it we live in a country where people believe the more you do the better you are and the more successful you are. Well, I was born wound to tight and I do not want that or this fast paced world to enter my home when I walk through the door. So to begin this decorating journey I have read that I need to first settle on a theme and then in some fashion put that theme to use in every room using different colors that flow from one floor to the next. Well, here is my theme: Tuscany, Italy!! My mother is half sicilian and that heritage has always fascinated me. Now Tuscany isnt Sicily, but there is just something about the warm colors and art that Tuscany has that make me what to just sit and bask in the wonder of God. If you don't believe me look at my background image or google Tuscany and you will know what I am talking about. I also like country type decor and thankfully Tuscany incorporates both country and Italy which is meravigliosa (wonderful in Italian :)) So as a newlywed I come across the most famous obstacle: money. Decor is so expensive!! So my first question is how do you all decorate on a budget? I am kinda crafty and what I don't know how to do I am willing to learn. So if you have any ideas let me know. I will keep you posted as I begin to decorate each room. Arrivederci!!!!

~Tuscany~
So I had a blog at one point with pretty much nothing on it because I was just going to record my everyday tasks. Well I quickly realized that I did not want to write about my mundane routine of washing dishes, doing laundry and other various tasks so why would anyone want to read them. Especially when most of us do that all day anyway. So instead I am going to write about the process of decorating my house!! Mostly because I need help, because decorating has never been my strong point. I have good ideas, but I have no confidence in them which has left our house mismatched with barren walls.

Go to the library and find books about design and Tuscany in particular. It may give you inspiration. Don't forget to look at yard sales (moving sales are even better), the Salvation Army, etc... you'd be surprised at the things you can find that will fit the bill (or can be changed just a little) all on a newlywed budget.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karrie!! I will definitely keep my eye out and i am going to try to get to the library at some point this week. :)
